YOUTH

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT

Positions

Cow Creek Career Center works closely with Tribal offices and businesses to develop positions that closely relate to the students career interest. Some positions offered will not reflect this but are still considered valuable work experience.

Reporting

Student workers will report to the Career Center Manager who will be responsible for the scheduling and supervising of the participant.  The Career Center will provide mentoring and coaching to develop job and life skills.

Scheduling

Age will be a factor during any school hours.  Youth may work full time during the summer, however, each position is budgeted for no more than 35 hours a week.  The schedule will be determined based on the needs of the position and the student employee.

Policies

In most cases, the intern will be expected to follow the established policies of the government office.  If applicable to the job description, BOLI guidelines will be followed for youth. This is a learning position, and considering the age of the participants, some policies will need to be modified.

Willingness to Learn and Participate
  • This is a learning position and as such, a student may be exposed to multiple areas of the business and asked to do a variety of tasks. To participate in this program students will demonstrate a willingness to learn and maintain a positive attitude.  Demonstrating respect to supervisors, co-workers, and Tribal membership at all times.
  • Periodic performance reviews will be given.
  • Paid training days throughout the internship.
